Service Manager and Operations Manager will allow you to set credentials for RunAs accounts that will in turn allow you to use different accounts for connecting to different systems. For example you use a RunAs account when configuring the Exchange Connector for Service Manager. Periodically a check will occur to ensure the credentials are still valid, and if not then an error is posted in the Operations Manager event log. If you use Office 365 for you Exchange Connector and use an account that isn’t part of your hybrid domain, then you will regularly see an error when it checks the RunAs credentials as it can’t verify Office 365 account for the foreign domain.
If you are able to incorrectly set the password when configuring the RunAs account then when the credentials are checked this will count towards your Active Directory lockout threshold, which in turn can lead to these accounts becoming locked out.
If you are experiencing unusual lock outs of your service accounts for these systems it’s worth starting your troubleshooting here, and making sure you are careful when setting complicated passwords.
